LAHORE: Applications have been sought for the allocation of flats to industrial workers, with priority quotas being earmarked for widows and disabled workers on the orders of Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz.
Under the plan, 3% of the flats will be earmarked for widows of dead workers, and 2% for disabled workers.
In Phase I, recruitment is in process from industrial workers of Lahore and Kasur districts. The process has already been started at the Workers Welfare Complex, Sundar Industrial Estate, Kasur, where 750 apartments will be distributed free of cost among workers.
The Chief Minister declared that industrial employees can now download application forms from their homes through the official websites. Forms are also downloadable free of charge from the offices of the Director Labour Welfare (North) and the Deputy Director Labour Welfare (South), Kasur. Deadline for application submission is September 8.
For equitable distribution, two-thirds of the apartments have been reserved for Kasur workers and one-third for Lahore workers.
