Local public holiday announced on July 11

VEHARI: The Vehri District Administration has declared a public holiday announced on Friday, July 11, 2025, in connection with the annual Urs celebrations of Baba Haji Sher Dewan.

Deputy Commissioner Vehari Imrana Tauqeer issued a notification in this regard on Wednesday.

According to the notification, all government offices across the district will remain closed on the day. It further said that the holiday will not apply to ongoing education boards or universities’ examinations.

“The public holiday has been declared to facilitate devotees and ensure smooth arrangements during the Urs celebrations,” the notification stated. The emergency services will remain operational as usual, it added.

The annual Urs of Baba Haji Sher Diwan is a significant spiritual event in the region and draws large numbers of devotees from across Punjab, with several religious and cultural events held over multiple days.
